Psalm 32 - Peace with God following the storm of sin.

Psalm 32

Psalm 32

Peace with God following the storm of sin.

Written after Psalm 51.  He promised to teach transgressors the Lord’s way!

An instructive Psalm.

A Psalm of experience used to comfort the weak.

Oh the joy of knowing your sins are forgiven!

Blessed – Psalm 1 describes the result of the joy

                           32 tells you the why!

Psalm 1 shows you the picture of a tree in full growth

32 shows its planting and watering

Psalm 1 He is a reader of God’s Word

32 He is in this chapter, One who is standing before

God’s throne accepted and heard – He is receiving

                                       Pardon and mercy/

Eqote absolve – is for those who recognize sin, fall on their faces in forgiveness before God, return as the Prodigal son, hear his Father’s Word of welcome, and hear the music, the singing and dancing in his heart, he is before his Creator, he is guilty in his sin and he hears absolvo te – I forgive you.   A full, instantaneous, irreversible pardon turns his hell into Heaven.

Our sins are covered.

          Covered by God

·       As the ark was covered by the mercy seat

·       As Noah was covered from the flood

·       As Egyptians were covered by the depths of the sea

Hidden from the sight of our God!

Christ’s atonement for our sin is our covering.  You can know you are forgiven.

There is no joy if your forgiveness is not known.

Vs. 2   David is saying “I am happy because I know that God, Himself has cleared the record of my sin.  He says my life is in Him, I am changed.”

Vs. 3-5  David’s testimony:

He tells us what he experienced and how he felt.

When I refused to confess my sin,

          Admit

                    I was wrong

                    I was weak

I groaned (complained) all day long

David wasn’t experiencing the uplifting hand of God.  He was experiencing the heavy hand of God convicting him of sin!

Vs. 3 & 4 was how he felt until –

Selah – Interlude

Vs. 5  I finally confessed my sins to You my Lord, I stopped trying to hide them and You forgave me!  All my guilt is gone.

          Sin forgiven

Virus (poison) of guilt, iniquity was over – gone.

Selah – Interlude

Oh the song is beginning to erupt.

Vs. 6  Therefore, take note;

Pray to God

·       Confess your rebellion against God while there is still time.

·       Don’t be like me and almost drown in the flood waters of judgment.

Vs. 7  Personal claims upon God

          Rest in God

·       He is my hiding place

·       He is my protection

·       He surrounds me with songs of Victory.

Trouble may come but it won’t harm me, it will be used for my benefit.

We are encircled in His song, hope, praise, thankfulness, joy and peace all sounding out in songs of deliverance.

Selah

(Relish in the moment.)

vs. 8  The Lord is speaking.

Learn from God.

He says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life.”

God, Himself through His Word wants to teach us; how to be Holy as He is Holy; how to live lives that are worthy.  Col. 1:9

He says, “I will guide you with My own eye.  We are the “sheep” of His pasture.  Psalm 100

Vs. 9  Don’t act like an animal with no understanding

          Submit to God

“Don’t make me put a bridal and a bit in your mouth.”

Run free in His Spirit, guided by His Word.

Vs. 10  The Comparison:

          Trust in God

          Sorrow for the wicked or

Unfailing love that will surround you who trust in God.

Vs. 11  So rejoice and be glad in the Lord if you obey Him.

Rejoice

Shout for you, if your heart is pure!
