Psalm 25 David is writing this while hiding from Absalom

Psalm 25

David is writing this while hiding from Absalom

In the dark of your night, turn on His light!

“I’d rather be in the heart of Africa in the will of God than on the throne of England out of the will of God.”  David Livingstone

An acrostic hymn (easier to memorize)

A is used twice vv. 1 & 2 = structurally linked together

R is used twice vv. 18 & 19 = structurally linked together

Vs. 11 is the central verse with no letter used.

“For Thy name sake.  O Lord pardon mine iniquity: for it is great.

*The 1st confession of sin in the Psalms.

Abraham Lincoln said “I have often been driven to God by the overwhelming sense that I had nowhere else to go.”

This Psalm is made up of 3 prayers.

#1 vv. 1-7

#2 vs. 11

#3 vv. 15-19

Psalm 27:8 “My heart has heard You say, “Come and talk with Me” and my heart responds “Lord, I am coming.”

Confidence as a believer

To You – O Lord – I lift up my soul

·      I trust in You; Is. 40:28=31

·      I don’t want to be disgraced

Direct – lead me – I trust You to:

·       Show me the path I should walk

·       Point out the right road

·       Lead me by Your Word, as it is true and

·       Teach me – You are God, You save me.

·       My hope is in You.

·       Remember O Lord, Your unfailing love and compassion

When You think of me, filter my past, my sin, my rebellion, my doubts, my fears, through Your eyes of unfailing love, out of Your mercy.

This is who God is, He

·       Is good

·       Does what is right

·       Shows the proper path (even to those who go astray)

·       Leads the humble to ‘the right’

By teaching them in His way with unfailing love and faithfulness.

He does this for All:

·       Who keep His covenant

·       Who obey His decrees

·       Who fear Him

He will show them the path they should choose-for His name sak.

Prayer #2:

“Lord, forgive my multitude of sin.

I trust You Lord with my:  Jeremiah 33:3

·       Finances

·       Children

·       Our relationship – You will share all I need to know of what I need in this journey.

My eyes are always looking to the Lord for help.  God alone has the answer.

Where do your eyes roam?

          What monopolizes your eyes?

          Where do find your answers?

Call to God!

Vs. 16          Lord, turn to me-

                             Have mercy on me

                             I am so alone

                             in deep distress.

My problems have gone from bad to worse!

                    Come, Lord,

                             save me from them All.

          Feel – my

          See – my

          Forgive – my

          See – my

          Protect – from them

          Rescue me – from them

I trust You – with them All!

So Protect me with Your integrity and honesty

and I will put my hope in You.

I will give it All to You, Lord!

O God, Our nation needs help!!!

Deliver, release, liberate us from All our troubles.

When You hear our prayer, Lord, cover me, us with Your mercy.

The Covenant:

          I will be your God, and you will be My people.” Lev. 26:12;
