Psalm 27 - My Anchor Holds

Psalm 27 - My Anchor Holds

I can see the Light.

John 8:12 Then Jesus spoke (said) to them (the people) again, " I am the Light of the World. If you follow Me, you won't be stumbling through the darkness, because you will have the Light that leads to life." NLT

My confidence is in My God.

Who/What is your source of confidence in/on in the peaks of life and the valleys of life?

David was

pursued by his enemies. V2-3

shut out from the house of the Lord. V4

parted from his father and mother. V10

subject to slander. V12 1 Samuel 22:1-3

David's

confidence in God is seen in V1-3.

love and time spent with God is in V4-6. David sees the Light!

prayer to God is in V7-12.

faith is sustained in V13-14.

David says with assurity- Colossians 3:3

The Lord is My Light. 2 Corinthians 12:2

My Salvation.

The Light Makes All Things Visible.

Before we are saved we stumble in the darkness, but at the moment we are saved we are filled with His Light.

He is the Light even in the valley of the shadow of death.

He is our

joy.

comfort.

guide.

teacher.

He is

Light with us. John 12:35

Light shining around us. Psalm 119:105

Light reflected from us. Matthew 13:43

Light revealed in us. 1 John 1:7

So -- Whom should I fear?

not the power of darkness

not the fear of hell

not the power of the flesh (We have the power of I Am, the Strength of My Life.) Run to the Light.

V2 David would stumble but not fall.

His enemies would stumble and fall - i.e. in Gethsemane.

My confidence is in my shield of faith.

"Confidence is the child of experience. Experience breeds hope and confidence." Spurgeon

Though a host attack -- worst case scenario -

"If God be for us, who can be against us? Romans 8:31

He saw God in His power.

He saw the enemy.

David's confidence is, "My heart shall not fear."

If

If

The enemy can never diminish you in God's eyes.

If I live -- I live because of Christ.

If I die -- I die for His sake.

Confidence in God keeps you walking in and through Him. You keep on keeping on.

Experience with God --

I have been delivered from the lion, so I will be from the bear, from the bear and lion, so I will be from the Philistine, so then from Saul, and God will deliver me from every evil work and preserve me blameless to His heavenly kingdom.

David's experience is the foundation of his confidence.

V4 The one thing I ask -

David's faith motivates him to seek God.

V4-6 The dwelling place of God is mentioned 4 times:

1) house of the Lord

2) His temple

3) His sanctuary

4) His tabernacle

In the safety of God's love, he will sacrifice, sing and make music to God.

V7-12 Time has passed and deliverance is taking longer than he had hoped.

David pleads with God -

Listen to my pleading.

Be merciful, answer me.

I love you. I am coming. (I am seeking You.)

Don't hide from me - as I am hiding from my enemy.

Be my helper.

Don't abandon me. I am so alone.

Hold me close.

Teach me. Enlighten me.

Lead me.

Protect me.

V13-14 I will wait. I am confident in You.

V14 (You who are reading this) Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous.

I love Him as He desires, then my enemies will come against me but I will never fear them.
I love God.
