The Gift Jesus Gave ~~~Luke 11:13

'So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?"

His permanent residence in us.

And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Advocate, Who will never leave you.  He is the Holy Spirit, Who leads into all truth.  The world cannot receive Him, because it isn't looking for Him and doesn't recognize Him.  But you know Him, because He lives with you now and later will be in you.  John 14:16-17; I John 3:24; John 4:13

His Voice

But when you are arrested and stand trial, don't worry in advance about what to say.  Just say what God tells you at that time, for it is not you who will be speaking, but the Holy Spirit.  Mark 13:11

His Power

Then Jesus returned to Galilee, filled with the Holy Spirit's power.  Reports about him spread quickly through the whole region.  Luke 4:14

Your Teacher/Coach

For the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what needs to be said.  Luke 12:12

But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative~~that is, the Holy Spirit--He will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.  John 15:26

Power to Witness

'But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you.  And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere--in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."  Acts 1:8

Psalm 32:8   The Lord says, I will guide you along the best pathway for your life.  I will advise you and watch over you.

With us in death

But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, gazed steadily into heaven and saw the glory of God, and he saw Jesus standing in the place of honor at God's right hand.  Acts 7:55

Our Encourager

The church then had peace throughout Judea, Galilee and Samaria, and it became stronger as the believers lived in the fear of the Lord.  And with the encouragement of the Holy Spirit, it also grew in numbers.  Acts 9:31

He strengthens our Faith

Barnabas was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and strong in faith.  And many people were brought to the Lord.  Acts 11:24

Fills us with Joy

And the believers were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit

Acts 13:52; Gal. 5:22

Changes your thinking

Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit.  Romans 8:5; Phil. 4:8

Helps our weaknesses

And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness.  For example, we don't know what God wants us to pray for.  But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words.  Romans 8:26

Makes you Holy

I am a special messenger from Christ Jesus to you Gentiles.  I bring you the Good News so that I might present you as an acceptable offering to God, mady holy by the Holy Spirit.  Romans 15:16

Produce fruit

But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness.  Gal. 5:22

New Life, New Birth

He saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy.  He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit.  Titus 3:5

Builds the church

But you, dear friends, must build each other up in your most holy faith, pray in the power of the Holy Spirit.  Jude 1:20
